Style Find: KEP Designs Necklaces for the Bride and Bridesmaids
![]() |
It’s not every day that you come across beautiful and fun bridal jewelry. But that’s exactly what they do at KEP Designs, started by Kelly Pillman in 2004. Her necklaces, bracelets, and earrings have a distinctly preppy flair, and are the perfect compliment for a bride having a beach wedding in Nantucket or a garden party in the Hamptons. She’s known for multi-layered strands of pearls, using colorful semiprecious stones, and incorporating coral and turquoise into her creations. Kelly also designs her own unique clasps using 18K gold, diamonds, sterling sliver and vermeil in whimsical shapes like starfish and flowers. Depending on which clasp you choose, it can add a splash of color incorporating a shade you’ve chosen for your wedding.
The necklaces are designed with layering in mind, like the ones featured in this photo. I absolutely love the combination of the 18K gold and diamond strawberry clasp with a multiple stand coin pear necklace…wouldn’t this be just perfect for an outdoor wedding surrounded by rolling hills? I think so!
Kelly and her team are experts at customization. If you have an idea in mind, they will make it happen for you by sourcing the perfect pieces to create the look. And once you’ve chosen the perfect jewels for you, they will help you design pieces for your bridesmaids. Now that’s a bridesmaids gift they will love to receive!
For a list of stores that sell KEP Designs please refer to their website www.kepdesigns.com
Their flagship boutique is located at 157 East 71st Street, New York City; 212.288.5314
Enjoy!

Runway Report Part 1: The antidote for the strapless dress
|
This spring during the New York bridal market, we saw many fabulous trends go down the runway. The feeling in the air was light, feminine, and beautiful. One standout trend visiable in almost every collection was the comeback of interesting necklines. Designers are veering away from the traditional strapless dress that has dominated the market for so long, and are giving brides what they have been asking for: beautiful bateaux’s, capricious cap sleeves, sumptuous spaghetti straps.
This dress, Look 25 by Oscar de la Renta, is a white silk faille v-neck ball gown with an embroidered skirt. Oscar’s entire collection was absolutely gorgeous, and this v-neck dress beautifully illustrates our neckline trend. It’s all about texture with the unbelievable embroidery at the bottom of the skirt (another trend that you’ll hear more about later). The floral pattern has leaves are taffeta and appliquéd on, mother of pearl buttons at the center of each flower, and petals that are cut out and layered to give them depth and dimension. I just used this dress on a magazine photo shoot that I was styling, and I can tell you that I’ve never seen anything like it…it’s truly stunning in person! Oscar, how do you do it?!?!
So for all of you brides out there that are determined not to wear a strapless dress, this is your season! Enjoy!
P.S. Just so you know, the new designer collections that were shone in April will be available in stores in early fall.
Best,
Julie

Welcome from The Stylish Bride
Hi everyone,
I’m so excited to introduce the Style Down The Aisle blog! I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself and the “Style” blog.
Unlike other blogs out there, Style Down The Aisle is devoted exclusively to bridal fashion, style and beauty. It will bring you all the information you need to look absolutely perfect on your wedding day. It’s my mission to make your quest for the perfect dress and accessories a whole lot easier!
I’m thrilled to share with you my five years of experience working with real brides, through my New York City based company The Stylish Bride. As a personal shopper and fashion stylist for brides, I help my clients create the perfect look for their wedding day. I shop with them to find the perfect dress and accessories. I advise them on what gowns work best for their specific body type and budget. I attend their fittings to make sure the dress fits perfectly. We talk about hair styles, accessories, and shades of lipstick. No detail is too small as each contributes to their overall look. And once their look is defined, I help them figure out what their wedding party, mothers, and even their groom should wear.
This blog will explore each of those areas in depth and also give you an inside glimpse of what to expect as you go through the process. I will also report on the latest fashions from the New York bridal runway shows so you can get up to date on the latest trends in the bridal market.
I absolutely love helping brides' look and feel their best. I’ve learned a lot through my experiences over the years, and I am excited to share this information with you.
Let’s have some fun and make this interactive. I want to hear from you! Tell me what you think. Post comments. Email me questions.
After all, looking your best on your wedding day is the most important thing (next to marrying the man of your dreams, of course!).
I’m looking forward to the journey!
Best,
Julie
